Terry Lee Exler

Terry Exler, of Lakewood Colorado, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020. He was born September 8, 1961, to Thomas ‘Tom’ Exler and Shirley Exler in Denver and raised in the Green Mountain area of Lakewood, Colorado.

Terry graduated with an Associate degree from Red Rocks Community College in Computer Programming with a minor in Computer Science where he also became a Computer Lab Assistant. One of Terry’s first teenage jobs was at the Denny’s in Lakewood, Colorado where his father was the very first customer on the restaurant’s opening day. For a time, Terry followed his father’s footsteps, learned to be a mechanic and worked with his dad at Washington Park Conoco in Denver. Terry’s last occupation was ID Administration and an Escalation Focal at IBM. He managed multiple accounts and created IDs for companies across the world. He provided access to many different databases. Terry created knowledge bases and trained individuals to perform their duties up to IBM standards.

Terry is survived by his daughter Alyssa Ramm, two granddaughters Zoey and Talia, and his brother Tony Exler. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas ‘Tom’ Exler and Shirley Exler, and his dogs Bear and Kyra (Screwball).

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, motorcycling and boating. He was passionate about Horology – the art and the science of measuring time, repairing vintage and antique watches and clocks. When he was very young, he excelled in math and ultimately became a computer whiz. He loved music. Terry played the trumpet and played the sousaphone in marching band.  He enjoyed playing the electric guitar, and he became a music audiophile. He loved music so much he collected everything from Classical to heavy metal and everything in between. He enjoyed sharing ice cream with family and friends and he loved to cook. He would travel up the hill to Blackhawk with friends and family and play penny slots. His favorite drink when he was up the hill was a White Russian. 

Memorial services will be on Monday, June 29th, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church of Wheat Ridge, 4490 Newland St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. An interment will be at 1 p.m. at Golden Cemetery at 755 Ulysses St, Golden, CO 80401
