Sharon Ann Shafer

Sharon Ann Caves Shafer - It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Shafer announces her passing on January 25, 2023 at the age of 75.  Sharon (also known as Shari) was born in Denver, CO on May 16th, 1947, and was the only beloved daughter of Harold and Ann Caves. She attended Wheat Ridge High School and graduated in 1965. She loved being a Wheat Ridge Farmer and was involved in several different clubs and activities including planning the 50th Class Reunion. She went on to attend Colorado State University but soon met the love of her life, Anton F. Shafer (Tony) in 1966. They were married a year and a half later in December of 1967 and spent 52 wonderful years together before Tony's sudden passing in March of 2019. Shari is survived by her daughter, April Schmidt, Son-in-Law, Robert Schmidt, rescued Pitbull mix, Lucy, as well as her cousins who she considered siblings, Margaret Chavez and Patrick McCumiskey. Shari was an avid animal lover and supporter of any organization that made their lives better, whether domestic or wild. She was a volunteer at the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley and enjoyed walking the dogs with Tony or helping to facilitate adoption events. Shari loved spending time with her family, staying active by doing Zumba or Pilates, traveling to Florida or Arizona, and enjoying her beautiful home and much-loved pets. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at Mile Hi Church, 9077 W Alameda Avenue in Lakewood on March 2nd at 1:30pm. Light refreshments to follow.
