Paul Wesley Scott – December 14, 1944 – July 2, 2020
Paul, a loving husband and father, and Colorado native, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2020 at the age of 75. He married his wife Gina Malara on October 15, 1988; and welcomed his son Matthew on November 9, 1989. He is survived by his wife Gina and his son Matthew.
Paul was born on December 14, 1944. He graduated East High School in 1964 and joined the Navy in 1966. While in the Navy he served in the Vietnam War where he served on the USS Mauna Loa as an Ordnance Mechanic. Upon leaving the Navy, Paul joined the Denver Police Department in 1968. After working in the motorcycle unit and gang unit, Paul was made a detective in 1990 where he worked in Assaults and Missing Persons. After being one of the lead investigators for the Columbine High School shooting, Paul retired from the Denver Police Department in 2000 after a distinguished 32 year career.
Paul was very active in the community. He was a member of the Henry Teller Masonic Lodge, Denver Scottish Rite Consistory and El Jebel Shrine. He was a two-time past master for the Masonic Lodge and was selected to be an attendant for a Potentate in El Jebel Shrine.
Paul loved spending time in the Mountains whenever he could, so much so, he built a log cabin with his own two hands in Badger Creek Ranch in South Park Colorado. The Cabin was one of Paul’s most proud accomplishments and cherished possessions. Paul’s ashes will be laid to rest at the cabin he so deeply cherished.
Paul’s Celebration of Life will be on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 10:30am at Trinity Church of Wheat Ridge with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend as this venue is plenty large enough to accommodate any social distancing concerns.
