Obituary

Myra Lewis, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Denver on 7/3/2023. Born in Taunton, MA, she lived a life defined by generosity, resilience, and a sense of humor and adventure. She started her career as a medical secretary before pursuing a career in nursing. She married the late Russell Lewis in 1976 and spent time in Denver, CO before moving to Houston, TX where they raised their family. Her caring nature was passed down to her 3 daughters: Jocelyn Lewis of Fairfax, VA; Dana Watson of Denver, CO; and Kylie Lewis of Houston, TX. She is survived by her sister Shari Polikoff of Taunton, MA as well as her 4 grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Myra was preceded in death by her loving husband Russell Lewis in 2009.

Beyond being a devoted wife and mother, Myra was known for her zest for life which was evident in her many travels, involvement in numerous social clubs, and wanting to make the most of every moment. She was actively involved in the PTA when her children were in school, loved hosting bridge clubs and book clubs, and made friends everywhere she went. Myra found joy in the mountains of Colorado and peace while spending time at the beach. Myra’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A small, family gathering will be held at the Dillon Cemetery on August 6 at 2:00 pm and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Temple Sinai in Houston, Texas at 2:00 pm on August 13. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Summit County Library Foundation to celebrate her love of reading and the mountains.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
