Mary Urban Obituary

Mary Josephine Urban was born on March 24, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Royer and Josephine Carr. She was an only child.

Her Grandmother, Camilla Bono, was Mary's babysitter and lived with the family for most of Mary's childhood life. Mary attended Smiley Junior High and East High School in the Denver area. She met her future husband, Virgil F. Urban, while she was in High School. They used to go to a lot of dances together. Virg was drafted to the Army during that time and Mary's family moved to Grand Junction in her senior year, which is where she graduated. After graduation her family moved back to the Denver area. Mary worked as an Elevator Attendant at the May Company in downtown Denver. Virg and Mary were wed on July 23, 1955 after Virg came home from the service. They lived in the Denver area. Mary continued to work at the May Company until their first child was expected. They were blessed with two daughters, Cindy and Tina. When the two girls were in Junior High, Mary worked part-time at Briggs Greenhouse & Flower Center for several years where she made flower arrangements. She loved working with Flowers and always made the best bows. After the two girls graduated and were no longer at home Mary worked as a part-time secretary at DenSand for a short period. Virg and Mary moved to Fruita, CO for five years and then moved back to Henderson, CO where Mary lived until her passing.

Mary enjoyed Crafts, Camping, Dancing and working in her yard. They were members of the North 40 Camping group and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with 20 other couples around the country. Her yard was always in top condition with an assortment of flowers in her flower beds.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Virg. They celebrated 65 years of marriage until his death in May of 2021. She is survived by her daughters; Cindy (Steve) Dozsak of Westminster, CO and Tina (Dennis) Schiel of Milliken, CO. 5 Grandchildren: Jared (Beth) Schiel of Wamego, KS; Aaron (Lauren) Schiel of Spring, TX; Evan (Kyleigh) Schiel of Wiggins, CO; Deanna (Marshall) Putzier of Bennett, CO; Chelsea (Steven) Weeks, of Denver, CO. 11 (soon to be 12) Great Grandchildren: Zach Schiel, Hannah Schiel, Joel Schiel, Libby Schiel, Ellis Schiel, Easton Schiel, Kinley Kembel (Schiel), Camden Schiel, Jethro Putzier, Aspen Putzier, Brielle Weeks and due in March is Penelope Weeks.
