Kathy Cornthwait, 69, of Thornton, CO passed away June 25, 2023 quietly at home.
Kathy is survived by her sons Brian and Sean Bressette, brothers David & Bob (Klunder), sisters Trish (Greg) Sebesta and Mary (Moscardino), a granddaughter (Alivia) and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband William Cornthwait, parents Dr. & Mrs Klunder, sister Sharon Eiseman, brother John Klunder, niece Jennifer Klunder, nephew Michael Moscardino and father to her sons Gerald Bressette.
Kathy was born in Denver, CO on November 10, 1953 as a 3 pound baby in 1953 she fought for her life (unexpected to make it) but to the surprise of the medical staff was released a month later to join her parents Dr. O.J. & Florence M. Klunder and siblings.
Kathy enjoyed music and was an excellent artist among other talents. Early in her career she managed a retail store in Cinderella City where she saved enough to buy a brand new orange 1970 VW Bug , which was quite an accomplishment for a 17 year old. As a model her travels took her to Vail and various locations. Kathy seemed to always know what she wanted and how to get it, always willing to work hard for a successful outcome. She ran her father’s anesthesia office during her senior year in high school and trained her sister to take over. She just had a strong sense of how to do things and did it.
Kathy met and later married Jerry on a blind date in 1970’s. They moved to Michigan soon afterwards and enjoyed living near all his many cousins, aunts and uncles there. Later they returned to Colorado where they had two children and several businesses together. Kathy kept the accounting in order and ran the home. Sadly after 22 years they split.
Kathy ventured out on her own with the boys as her priority and met William to later marry. They enjoyed going to Central City and Vegas together, video games , puzzles and excellent home cooked meals she would spend hours preparing. She made the best birthday cakes ever. She made holidays special and always knew the exact right present to give. She loved her pets as though they were children. Kathy was a selfless mother and homemaker to her whole family. Kathy took excellent care of William after he incurred paralysis from a stroke until his passing in 2007. They spent 18 wonderful years together and she looked forward to seeing him again.
Kathy had been an anchor to our family, always listening sympathetically served with a dose of reality as she strove for justice in any situation presented to her for analysis. She possessed an inner joy. When faced with challenges or setbacks she managed to make situations work for her. She had an uncanny ability to analyze and imagine different possible outcomes when presented with a problem. You couldn’t find a more compassionate soul to talk to because she felt deep empathy for anyone’s pain & suffering having grown accustomed to her own. Though she suffered for over 40 years with her own health struggles she rarely complained. A strong faith in God helped her overcome every challenge in her life. She will be remembered for her bravery, deep understanding of souls, love of family, inquisitive nature, setting people straight all while keeping tabs on the lives of celebrities.
