Elizabeth Smith Obituary

Elizabeth Marie Smith (Betty)
Lakewood, Colorado
December 3, 1924-May 14, 2020
Our loving mother, grandma, great grandma and best friend has received her well-earned angel wings.
Betty was a strong, amazing woman with much perseverance. She grew up in the depression; the daughter of Swedish immigrants. She worked in a factory in Michigan as a young woman, during WWII, as a ‘Rosie The Riveter”. Betty raised four children on her own, while having a successful career with the US Bureau of Mines. She got to enjoy a long and happy retirement traveling and enjoying time with family and friends. Betty spent several years working at Coors field during the Rockies home stands. She loved spending several winters in Sun City West.
This very special lady never knew a stranger, and had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel like they were her favorite. She was incredibly generous with her time, energy, and wisdom. Betty was the life of the party, with an amazing sense of humor and bright spirit. She never turned down a happy hour or an offer for a cribbage game.
Betty is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, including Tim (DeeAnn), Sandy (Rick) Dunn, Ted (Sandy), and Robert (Margie). She passionately loved her 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Betty additionally leaves behind too many friends to count.
We look forward to celebrating Betty’s amazing life later this summer with a gathering that can accommodate her many loved ones. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Susan G Komen foundation (ww5.komen.org) in her honor.
Our mom and friend was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
