Kate Hackim, born Anastasia Sergeyevna Artuskina in Kirov, Russia, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2023, at 25 years old.
Kate graduated from Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina and attended UNC Chapel Hill where she was studying Neuroscience. Before graduating, Kate elected to take a sabbatical to Colorado to enjoy the atmosphere and vibrancy of the Rocky Mountains. Kate was living in Lakewood, Colorado at the time of her death.
Kate was a bright light everywhere she went and in every group she was part of. Her kindness towards her friends and family had no limits. Kate loved adventure, people, and animals most of all. She was an incredibly talented artist and writer. Kate loved her job, coworkers, and patients at Colorado Ophthalmology Associates at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood.
She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Hackim, and father, Ed Hackim, of Durham, North Carolina; brothers Eddie Hackim, of Athens, Ohio, and Jacob Hackim, of Cary, North Carolina; grandparents, Chuck and Ann Freeman, of Colfax, North Carolina; dogs Phoebe and Sasha; cats Mishka and Basil; her aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her boyfriend Jace Brandl and their cat Boo, of Lakewood, Colorado. Kate is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Eleanor Hackim, of Sanford, North Carolina.

Kate is now at peace. She was loved immeasurably. She will be missed infinitely.
