Wally Nerka Obituary

Wally Nerka (62) passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus on March 8th, 2020.


His final days were spent in the hospital then at home under hospice surrounded by several family, friends,  co-workers.

Wally is survived by his loving wife of 8 years Gina and their dog Sally.  Loving Sisters  Patty (Dave) Beck Kansas City, KS, Kathy Nerka, Littleton, CO, Brother In- Law to Rita (Dennis ) Shultz Powell, WY,  Mother In- law Sandy Marino, Powell, WY Nephews & Nieces :, Mike (Jamie) Beck Broomfield,CO, Johnny (Maggie) Beck,Overland Park, KS, Nakita (Sam) Curr Powell, WY, Spencer Shultz, Vernal, Utah , Grand Nephews Finnegan and Quinn,  Grand Nieces, Kendall and Ellie. 

He is preceded in death by  parents Wally and Mickey Nerka.

Anyone that knew Wally knew his love and knowledge of sports; - especially his beloved Superbowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawk Men's Basketball. Growing up in Kansas City, Kansas he along with half of the neighborhood kids, piled into the family station wagon to attend the Chiefs home games as members of the Huddle Club.  He spent many Saturdays with his Dad attending KU football games and hosting basketball games with friends. Wally graduated high school from Bishop Ward in Kansas City, KS and attended Emporia State University.  Wally moved to Denver in 1992.

Wally never knew a stranger. His sense of humor and infectious smile put people at ease. Wally enjoyed people, animals, exploring the mountains of Colorado, Bruce Springsteen concerts, chatting about sports,  anything Blueberry flavored and trying different restaurants. Wally attended Red Rocks Church - Littleton, CO.

Wally's career span  primarily consisted working in the mortgage and financial industries. He was last employed with Transamerica in Denver.
 

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in consideration of the risks of COVID -19.
