Michael Schwab Obituary

On Saturday, December 21, 2019, Michael E. Schwab, loving husband,
passed away due to acute heart failure, at his home in Black Hawk,
Colorado. It was sudden and unexpected, although he had been
experiencing new symptoms of low blood pressure, shortness of breath
and fatigue, and dizziness for about 2-3 weeks prior. He had just reached
the age of 65 a few months before.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Lynn E. Schwab of Black Hawk,
Colorado; mother, Mary Lou Wadsworth of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; and
brother, Kenneth Schwab of Henderson, Nevada. He also leaves behind 3
nephews and a niece, 2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew, as well as
several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Loren K. Schwab
on 12/21/2002.
Michael was born in Burbank, California on September 1, 1954. His parents
moved to Colorado when he was 3 years old and he considered himself a
Colorado native. They lived in Littleton, Colorado where Michael was a
competitive swimmer, and then during his high school years they moved to
Kiowa, Colorado where he played basketball.
Michael met his wife Lynn, during college and they were married on August
9, 1975. Michael graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with
a degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He first worked
for National Cash Register (NCR) in Wichita, Kansas, then Martin Marietta
in Colorado, and spent 25 years at Cobe Labs in Lakewood. His last
employment was at Evergreen Research in Genesee, Colorado. He was a
software engineer specializing in writing software for medical devices such
as the heart/lung machine and Spectra, a machine that separates whole
blood into its various components. He enjoyed his work immensely, even
though it was very technical and demanding.
He also went to Boulder School of Massage Therapy and became a
massage therapist, then got a Master’s Degree in Transpersonal
Psychology Counseling from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. While
he did not practice these disciplines formally, he used what he had learned
to help facilitate more tranquil interpersonal relationships with people
throughout his work and personal life.

Michael loved listening to music, playing the guitar, science fiction books,
skiing, being at the beach, cats, iced tea, living in the mountains. He had a
great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. He was a kind, caring Old
Soul who was taken from us too soon. He will be profoundly missed by his
family, friends and all who knew him.
Michael’s remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Stork Funeral Home, 1895 Wadsworth Blvd.
